You Look Ten Years Younger :))

I have always said, enjoy the good moments cause they help carry you through the bad ones.

It has certainly been a series of good moments for me this week. Just interesting in so many ways.
I was in California for a few days. I had not been to the El Dorado Hills, California location of Frontier Dental Laboratories in months and I was looking forward to seeing the team. While there, I was surprised that so many of them were telling me I look so much younger than the last time they saw me. Huh? I scratched my head. A nice boost to the ego nonetheless.

It so happened that there was a lecture being taught by the faculty of the California Center For Advanced Dental Studies (CCADS). I stuck my head in and to my surprise, it was being taught by a group of dentists who started with CCADS three years ago. I was very proud to see how they had grown and developed...it made me feel good about the program and, most importantly, it made me very proud of them. I was impressed - I don't often see that kind of development that quickly. Again, a few of them came up to me and asked: What have you been up to? I can't believe how good you look. I was starting to wonder if this was a setup by the Frontier team.

I flew home to Vancouver midweek as I had dinner functions Thursday night and Friday night. On Thursday, nearly a dozen people said the same. Friday was a dinner function with the Vancouver Canucks Hockey Team (as I said, it has been a great week). For those of you who don't live in Canada, Vancouverites LOVE their Canucks. As I sat at dinner, a friend I had not seen in a while sat beside me. She proceeded to look at me, say "you look really good" and "can I run my fingers through your hair?" I thought she was joking so I said sure. And she did!

Don't get me wrong, I have been working out regularly during the summer. I have also been doing Hot Yoga more often so I am sure that has helped. But nothing like the positive feedback over the last few weeks. And the only thing I can think of is that I finally completed my "smile makeover" with Frontier Veneers and it has changed the way I look. More dramatically than I expected.

Thus the Epihany:

The value in having a great smile is: it changes how you are perceived by others to the point that people around you go WOW! You look great!

Forget about anything else.  People around you notice how good your smile is.

Many dentists miss the point. They spend their careers treating the "tooth pain" that they don't realize the benefits they can provide by treating a person's confidence and self esteem. If only they can communicate this - "If you get your smile done, people around you will go wow-you look so much (younger, prettier, more vibrant, more attractive...insert the adjective). When done properly - it is life changing - especially for one's self confidence. If anything, I have been accused of overconfidence more than the lack of; yet the complements have still been very rewarding. Very rewarding.

Hence my message - if only people could FEEL how a great smile can change the way they are perceived by others - they would do what they can to get the best smile possible.

Hopefully, it makes you smile too :)
