Don't Judge A Man Until You've Walked A Mile In His Shoes
I had an interesting week. I attended a dinner/presentation where the guests where some of the most prominent entrepreneurs I could imagine including Holly and Richard Branson, as well as personalities like Mia Farrow, Shaquille O'Neill. It was one of the functions surrounding the Mark and Craig Kielberger's Free The Children Foundation and We Day. An awe inspiring group to say the least.
For me though, the most inspiring of the bunch sat beside me for dinner - Spencer West.
Spencer who?
Well, don't judge a man until you have walked a mile in his shoes...or hands for that matter.
As we were having dinner, I leaned over and told Spencer how I admired his mental and emotional toughness - to be able to turn his world to the best it can be. He said "By the way, I am training to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro". My normally overinflated ego suddenly started to deflate like a helium balloon. I have nothing to complain about compared to him.
Since then, whenever I have needed to put things in perspective, I thought of Spencer West. What's my excuse?
PS. I am finishing my article on CAD/CAM in dentistry and will post it shortly.
