Thoughts And Actions

I was meeting with a talented member of our team the past week. She is perceptive and I was pleased that she was open enough to share her observations with me. So I asked her: What do you do about the things you see? She smiled sheepishly.

Then I said, here is a tip about life: thought without action is wasted effort.

Think of it (pardon the pun). If I were to say "I have this idea - I will build a spaceship that can explore Venus". How much value does that thought really have unless I am able to muster the actions necessary to make it work.

Or even, "I want to eat healthier". Ok, what are the actions?

Yet the number of people that expect, just because they have an idea, that it will turn into something...

It also made me reflect even on our own organizations...what are the ideas that are actionable at THIS TIME with the RESOURCES (people, technology, finances, skills, etc) that we have. Often, the idea is only as good as the ability to execute down the line.

To quote Stevie Wonder

We all have the ability. The diffence is how we use it.

But then again, what do I know? I'm just a guy making my way in this world.
